A soldier from another world lands in the middle of a battle and wins it for the general whose body he now occupies. The king is so pleased he hands these travelers real jobs, hoping their knowledge of the future will drag his backward country forward. Easy math. Soon everyone wants in, and fakers start crawling out of the woodwork claiming to be from elsewhere. So now there's an inspection. Zuo Yunqi shows up to that inspection with a fake story, trying to pass as a Foreigner so he can get close enough to save his father. Everyone can see straight through him. The Landlord, whose whole job is sniffing out real outsiders, spots the lie in seconds. He should be thrown out on his ear. Instead they let him keep the title anyway, and that one small wink sets off a mess: mind games, fistfights, the occasional bit of slapstick, the two of them circling each other until they finally agree to work together. They manage to stop one plot, only to learn someone else has been quietly building an alliance behind their backs, aiming to tear down the throne and hand the country over to whoever grabs it first. Now Zuo Yunqi and his crew have to move. But why would anyone wave a phony Foreigner through the gate in the first place, and what does that person want him for?
