Kakeru buys a can of melon soda from a vending machine. Normal afternoon, normal drink. Then the can turns into a girl with a bad attitude, and he starts calling her Melon because what else are you going to do. She is not the only one. More empty can girls keep showing up, each with her own flavor and temper. Here is the catch. Stay human too long and they fizz out. A shot of carbon dioxide keeps Melon and the others in their bodies, which makes every encounter a race against going flat. So when the whole crew heads to a hot spring to relax, the trip turns into something else entirely. Sudden run ins, steam everywhere, and Kakeru stuck in the middle of a situation no amount of soda can fix. Can he keep Melon topped up long enough to survive the weekend?
