Leon McNichol learned the hard way what a Boomer can do to a human body. That run-in left scars, and it pushed him straight into the AD Police, the only unit in MegaTokyo equipped to handle androids that snap. His partner Gina Marceau has been on this job long enough to stop being surprised by anything. Two years after a massive earthquake wiped the old Tokyo off the map, the rebuilt city glitters, and Boomers are everywhere now: construction sites, military contracts, ordinary streets. Not exotic anymore. Just dangerous. Then the calls start piling up, and each one is worse than the last. A machine goes berserk in a crowded place. A victim turns out to have more metal in them than anyone admitted. Leon and Gina keep showing up expecting a routine bust and walk into something that makes the whole department go quiet. The real problem isn't the bodies. It's the question underneath them. Where exactly does a person end and a machine begin, and who gets to decide? Leon wants answers. Gina wants to finish her shift. MegaTokyo wants to pretend nothing is changing. So when the line finally blurs past recognition, which side will the AD Police be standing on?
