Wake Up, Girls!
A tiny talent agency in Sendai is broke. Their last moneymaker just bolted for Tokyo, and the president, Junko Tange, sees one way out: throw together an idol group and cash in. So she shoves the job onto Matsuda, a young manager who has no idea what he is doing. On one of his scouting trips he stumbles onto a girl, and suddenly the whole stupid plan looks real. Seven girls sign up: Mayu, Airi, Minami, Yoshino, Nanami, Kaya and Miyu. Wake Up, Girls is born. Then the floor drops out. The company president vanishes with most of the money, and the producer brought in to replace her cares way more about getting the girls into skimpy swimsuits than about their songs. Gossip about Mayu's time in a rival group starts spreading, and the group begins to fracture from the inside. With no cash, no trustworthy adults, and a target on Mayu's back, these seven have to figure out who is actually on their side. Singing is a business, sure. But can friendship and a real love of music hold them together when everything else is falling apart?
