Monsters walk among us. They wear human faces, slip through crowds unnoticed, and feed on the dark corners of what people want most. Miyu knows them by name. She is the one chosen to drive the Shinma off the Earth, and she looks like nothing more than a quiet girl in a school uniform. Then you learn what she really is. A vampire princess, stuck between two worlds and cut off from both. The same power that lets her hunt the monsters lets her hand a human being endless happiness. She never gets to keep any for herself. Her only company is Larva, a Shinma who once served the darkness and now guards her instead. Together they follow the worst of human weakness, the moment someone gives in, the moment innocence is gone. Every hunt could turn on her, because half the things out there want her dead. Can someone who brings happiness to others ever find a scrap of it herself?
