Koyomi Takasaki keeps his head down. His parents split, he moved in with his mom, and the prep school he now attends is all silent desks and bent necks. Everyone studies. Nobody talks to him. He tried making friends in high school and it went nowhere, so he stopped trying. Then Kazune Takigawa walks up to him like it's nothing. Same classroom, same uniform, except she says she came from the 85th world. In that one, the two of them have been together for a long time. She says it plainly, no drama, and waits for him to catch up. He has never spoken to her before today. Here's the thing about people swinging between parallel worlds: it happens all the time, and everyone treats it like weather. So maybe she's telling the truth. Maybe she isn't. Either way, she knows things about him that no stranger should, and she keeps looking at him like she's already lost him once. How do you love someone back when she's remembering a life you never lived?
