On the night of July 12, 1917, the sky broke its own rules. Sun and moon hung there together. Tides heaved back and forth with no reason. Then the clouds went black and buildings started dropping, one after another, until the whole world was in trouble. Three old families of tomb robbers, the Zhang, the Han and the Cao, decide the only way out is to dig. Zhang Tianqi, the young master, is decent and maybe too trusting for this line of work, and he takes his crew straight into the mess. What they find is Loulan: a tomb a thousand years deep, full of traps that nearly swallow them whole. So what does an ancient buried kingdom have to do with the night the sky went strange? And why does that tomb seem to know they were coming?
