A gifted sorcery student named Krylancelo watched his foster sister Azalie get swallowed by an experiment gone wrong. The Tower's elders cared more about their reputation than her life, so they drove the transformed dragon away and buried the whole mess. Furious, he walked out, changed his name to Orphen, and swore he would turn her human again. Five years on, the vow is going nowhere. He pays rent by shaking down debtors, and one of them pitches a brilliant plan: marry rich. Orphen gets dragged into it against his will, and that is when he runs into the very monster he has hunted since his Tower days. Everyone else wants it dead. He wants it alive, because he knows exactly who is inside that body. Now former teachers and old friends are closing in on the creature, and Orphen still has no cure. So what do you do when the people who taught you magic want your sister dead, and the only way to save her might be hidden in the truth about this world itself?
