Goku finally has the quiet life he never asked for: a wife, a small son, and a reunion on Turtle Island with the old crew. Then a stranger crashes the party. Raditz looks human enough until he opens his mouth, and what comes out is worse than any punch. He knows where Goku came from. He knows things Goku doesn't. And before anyone can throw a fist, he takes four year old Gohan and disappears into the sky. Goku has to chase him, and the only fighter strong enough to help is the guy he has spent years hating. Piccolo. The two of them strike a deal to go after the kidnapper, but when they let slip that seven magic balls can grant any wish, Raditz just laughs. There are more Saiyans out there. They are coming. And they will want those balls for themselves. The fight to get Gohan back turns into something much bigger, a long defense of the planet against one monster after another, each one stronger than the last. Gohan is supposed to be a coward. His father is supposed to be unbeatable. Neither of those things is true right now. So which one of them breaks first?
