Arthur Leywin used to sit on a throne, and he was not a kind king. Now he is a teenager with a sword and a mentor named Jasmine Flamesworth, and she is the one who dragged him into the adventurer's life. He is still nowhere near the strength he had in his old body. That does not stop him from outclassing everyone around him, to the point where people start to wonder what exactly they are looking at. His friend Tessia has her own problems. She is a princess of Elenoir, and because humans and elves have been at each other's throats for centuries, her job is to smile, shake hands and keep the peace. Then a mysterious group decides that peace is inconvenient. Suddenly Arthur and Tessia are not just two young adventurers trying to survive their first contracts. They are standing in the middle of something much bigger, and neither of them asked for it. Arthur wants power. Tessia wants goodwill between two races that mostly want each other gone. Can either of them really get what they want before the whole thing falls apart?
