A thousand years back, the legendary hero Creasion sealed the demon lord Rchimedes away, and the world has been quiet ever since. Then a hole tears open between the demon and human worlds, demons come pouring through, and a nervous king decides the safest move is to gather the hero's descendants before Rchimedes gets loose again. Problem: after ten centuries, nobody knows which bloodline is the real one. So he rounds up seventy five candidates who seem hero-ish enough. Alba Frühling is number forty five. He is an amateur adventurer with a sword and not much else, plus a soldier named Ross who is supposedly there to bail him out. Supposedly. Ross can fight, no question, but he is sarcastic, he is sadistic, and he genuinely enjoys watching Alba squirm. Every pinch the kid lands in is entertainment for his own bodyguard. So the two of them wander toward a sealed demon lord, collecting weirdos and picking fights, while Alba keeps waiting for help that comes late or sideways. With seventy four other so-called heroes out there, and a partner who might be more dangerous than the monsters, is Alba actually the chosen one, or just the unlucky one?
