Episode 11 · Protocol: Rain

Protocol: Rain

Shun Tokinoya quit online games the day his father died and his sister lost the use of her legs. He blames himself for all of it. Now he is the quiet honor student behind the counter of a cybercafe, pouring coffee for strangers, and he has not touched a keyboard to fight since. The cafe belongs to Nozomi, his childhood friend. Then the floor drops out. Every player on FOX ONE, the esports team run by Nozomi's father, walks away overnight, and Shun finds out why: the family is drowning in debt. So he does the one thing he swore he would never do again. He sits back down to play, dragging his classmate Akito along to hunt for new teammates, because the Xaxerion Championship pays enough to save them. Two promising recruits turn up, and the ragtag squad starts to look like something real. Only Shun's guilt sits at the desk with him every match, and it does not log out. Can a team built from leftovers win anything while their captain is still fighting his own past?
