Hiro just wanted to see his sister. Instead he spots a girl in gothic black about to get flattened by a falling steel beam, shoves her clear, and takes the hit himself. Dead. That should be the end of it. Then he wakes up on a slab in the morgue, very confused, and the same girl walks in and calls him her servant. Her name is Hime, and she is royalty, a daughter of the King of the Monsters. Her family can pour undying flame into a corpse and turn it into a soldier that will not stay down, not even if you take its head off. So Hiro is hers now. Problem is, he has no idea how to fight, and the flame has to be renewed every few days or he stops moving for good. Meanwhile her siblings keep sending things after her, because whoever knocks off the competition climbs a rung on the succession ladder. Vampires, sure. Zombies, fine. Also were-sharks, pandas, and dumplings that want you dead. Hime is the one you are supposed to root for here. That is the strange part. She is the closest thing to a good guy, and she still hangs out on the wrong side of hell's front door. How long can a guy who is already dead keep standing between her and the rest of her family?
