Ash and his friends roll into Altomare, a city built on canals where gondolas glide past sunlit plazas. Perfect timing: the annual water race is about to start, and the whole town has turned out to watch. Except Ash somehow loses, which never happens. Then he stumbles on two women siccing their Pokémon on a young girl, and he and Pikachu jump in to save her. She vanishes. When he finds her again, she swears she has never met him in her life. Turns out the girl was never a girl. She is Latias, a Pokémon who likes to borrow the face of her human friend Kanon. Latias and her brother Latios watch over Altomare and a glowing blue sphere called the Soul Dew, and an old legend ties the three of them together. The thieves Zanner and Lyon know the legend too, and they have come to town for it. Now Ash is caught in the middle, and the artifact those sisters are after is the one thing keeping the city above water. What happens to Altomare if they actually get their hands on it?
