Two years after the fight with Eosmon, Davis and the others run into a kid named Rui Owada. He is holding a Digivice that has gone dead, no light, no nothing, and he tells them something strange: he was the first Digidestined. Ever. Then Ukkomon shows up in the real world, and this Digimon has a wish. A big one. It wants every single person on the planet to have a Digimon partner of their own. Sounds nice, right? Except nothing about Rui adds up, and nothing about Ukkomon feels simple either. The team has to figure out who this boy really is and what that dead Digivice means, while a Digimon's dream starts reshaping the world around them. Is Rui telling the truth, and what happens when everyone gets a partner they never asked for?
