A little girl named Mii sits alone in a big empty house. Her father went off to study strange letter shaped creatures called the Unown and never came back. All he left behind was a box of odd tiles. She starts playing with them, and she makes a wish. She just wants her dad home again. Something answers. The tiles wake up, and the Unown come crawling out of nowhere. They drag in a legendary lion Pokémon, Entei, and tell it to be her father. It works. She gets her dad back, more or less. Meanwhile Ash and Pikachu are on their way to Greenfield to meet Misty and Brock, and when they get there the whole town has turned to crystal. Towers, grass, everything, frozen and glittering. The Unown did this. They will have to go down before Greenfield goes back to normal. Then it gets personal. Entei snatches Ash's mom, Hanako, and nobody understands why she of all people. Ash has to walk into that crystal wasteland with his friends and his Pokémon to face Entei and the Unown and get her out. But the real fight might be with a lonely kid who refuses to wake up from a dream that has quietly turned into a nightmare. Can Ash save his mother and pull Mii out of a wish that is swallowing her whole?
