Yuta has spent five hundred years wandering Japan, ever since he ate mermaid flesh and stopped aging. Mana shares his curse. One sunny afternoon he dozes off while she plays with a stray kitten near a cliff edge. She slips. Falls. The doctor for the Kannagi family scoops up what looks like a corpse and carries it home, and no one in that house plans a funeral. Then Mana opens her eyes on the table. Towa Kannagi, the lady of the estate, has kept a young face for fifty five years thanks to mermaid blood her sister fed her, though her hair went white and one arm turned into something animal. The blood also left her in constant agony. Watching a dead girl sit up changes everything: here is a living source, and Towa wants it. Yuta picks up her trail and heads straight for the manor, no plan, no hesitation. What Towa is willing to cut open to end her own pain is one question. Whether Yuta reaches the estate before she does is another.
