Ikki Tenryou is an elementary school kid with one dream: to build a Medabot strong enough for the World Tournament, where fighters battle their robots for the champion title. The problem is he can barely afford one. What he ends up with is Metabee, a rusty outdated model that does not even come with a medal, the little disc that gives these machines their mind. A lucky find in the river changes that. He pops the medal into Metabee's head and the robot wakes up. Then everything goes sideways. Metabee is stubborn, hot headed, and flat out refuses to follow orders, which is a real problem when your entire career depends on a robot that listens. Other fighters have slick, obedient bots. Ikki has a tin can with an attitude who talks back and picks fights. So the two of them have to figure out how to fight as one team, and that might be harder than any opponent in the ring. Can a kid and a robot who cannot stand each other actually make it to the top?
