Bad luck has followed Chihiro Enomoto his whole life. His parents died in a car crash when he was ten, and ever since he has run the household for his older sister Shinobu, a teacher at his new school and a total slob. Cooking, cleaning, laundry: all him. So when he somehow gets into the elite Rikkyoin High, he figures his luck has finally turned. First day, first visit to the library, and he locks eyes with Tokino Akiyama, the eccentric girl everyone calls the mushroom queen. He is gone. Completely. Then Ritsuko shows up. Childhood friend, now chair of the student council, and she has been waiting years for this reunion. One look at Chihiro and she is in love all over again, though she would rather die than admit it out loud. He has no idea. None. Here is the catch: the school picks its next student government by lottery. Pure chance, no warning, and the winners get dragged into a year of campaigns and competitions against each other. Chihiro and the people around him end up scattered across the teams. Ritsuko is hiding her feelings. Tokino is off in her own world. And the whole club cannot stop arguing about how it will all play out. Can a guy with luck this bad really survive a year of this?
