Sakuya just wants to track cheating husbands and find missing cats. Safe, boring, nobody dies. That is the whole plan. His father, the legendary detective Tatsuya Outsuki, chased monsters and got a statue built in his honor, and Sakuya looked at all of it and decided: not me. Then a routine job on a cruise ship puts a corpse in front of him, and before he can even start poking around, someone puts him down too. Except he opens his eyes. There is Lilithea, his assistant, leaning over him like nothing happened. Here is the part nobody warned him about: Sakuya cannot stay dead. He gets stabbed, shot, whatever, and some time later he is back on his feet, still aching from every second of it. So now he investigates murders while being the victim, over and over, and the pain does not get any softer. Then he watches a plane fall out of the sky, the exact plane his father was supposed to save. The agency lands on his desk. The first names on his list are the Seven Old Men, criminals his father put away. How many times is he willing to die before he finally learns what happened up there?
