The hunt for Shikon shards pulls Inuyasha and his friends into the path of Menoumaru, a demon who clawed his way out of the dark thanks to one of those very fragments. His father once led an invasion of demons from China, and Inuyasha's father cut him down. Now the son wants something back: Tessaiga, the blade tied to his family's sealed power. He ambushes Inuyasha. Bad move. The sword only answers its true owner, and Menoumaru can't even lift it. So he changes tactics. He takes Kagome. That's when the old wound rips open again. Kagome, her mind no longer her own, turns on the man she loves, and the horror of it sends her running back through the well to her own time. The well slams shut behind her. No way back. With their friends holding the line, Inuyasha has to face Menoumaru and whatever the demon is really after, something that reaches far past their world into a future nobody has seen yet. Kagome is stuck in the present with nothing but her own stubborn heart. Can she find a way back before everything they fought for is gone?
