Noor promised his dying mother he would become an adventurer. One problem: he has no talent for anything. Training schools turned him away, so he practiced alone for ten years, swinging a sword in the dirt until the only thing he could do was parry. Not strike. Not cast. Just knock blades aside. A thousand swords at once, sure, but who needs that? Then he wanders into the capital and finds a minotaur tearing up the streets. He parries it into the ground and saves a girl, who turns out to be the princess. She hands him a strange greatsword and demands he train her. Meanwhile, someone is smuggling monsters into the kingdom and aiming knives at the royal family, all to push Clays into war. Noor has no idea any of this is happening. He just wants a real adventurer's job. So when the conspiracy finally reaches him, will the man who only ever learned to block be able to stop it?
