Hunter x Hunter
Gon is twelve. He lives on a quiet island with his aunt, and he has one thing on his mind: his father Ging, a Hunter who walked out years ago and never came back. Hunters chase criminals, dig up treasure in places nobody has mapped yet, hunt down monsters. Dangerous work, but Ging chose it over raising his son, and Gon wants to know why. So he leaves home to take the Hunter Examination, the same brutal test his father once passed. Most people who sit it end up crippled. Plenty end up dead. Then the exam throws him together with three strangers. Leorio, a broke medical student with a loud mouth. Kurapika, quiet and burning for revenge. Killua, a kid his own age with a smile that does not quite fit and hands that have clearly done terrible things. They are not friends at first, just four people with nothing in common except the need to survive the same nightmare. Their reasons for being there could not be more different, yet they keep saving each other's lives. And the closer Gon gets to the title, the clearer it becomes that being a Hunter is not really about passing. So what exactly did Ging find out there, and what could possibly be worth leaving a child behind for?
