He was born alongside the gods, stood as their equal, and outlived every living thing that dared to challenge him. Then humans came, and the mightiest dragon of all fell. He did not rage. He did not beg. He only asked for quiet, for a place where nothing would bother him ever again. What he got was a cradle. A newborn boy named Dolan, in a tiny village far from anything that matters. Dolan grows up knee deep in mud and harvests, hunting his own dinner, hauling water. Field work. Chores. Family. It should be a letdown after centuries of ruling the sky, yet this plain life suits him better than godhood ever did. Then he wanders into a swamp and runs into Celina, a lamia who is half girl and half snake. She is hunting for a husband and she will tell anyone who listens that humans usually bolt the moment they see her tail. Dolan does not bolt. The two of them start keeping each other company. Simple enough, right? Except something out there has other plans, and the peace Dolan fought so hard to earn keeps getting yanked out from under him. A retired dragon, a snake girl with lousy luck in love, and trouble that will not leave them alone. How long can a man who was once a god keep pretending he is nobody?
