Two months after the submarine mess, Sousuke is back at school, still shoving grenades into his locker and treating Kaname's class schedule like a military operation. She yells at him. He apologizes in the wrong language. For a while it almost looks like normal life. Then Mithril catches wind of Amalgam, a group nobody official will admit exists. They have tech that cracks electronic locks wide open, and they have something darker, pulled from a Whisper just like Kaname. When Mithril yanks Sousuke off bodyguard duty, the pieces Amalgam needs slide neatly into place. No warning. No backup. Now Sousuke is fighting his own people while Kaname sits alone with a target on her back, and the new Arm Slaves coming at them are nothing like the old ones.
