Fighting for the Throne
A dying man on a mountain road. That is how it starts for Li Huamei, cut down by ambushers and left for dead until a stranger named Dafeng pulls him out of it. Dafeng is heading to the capital anyway, chasing rumors of his senior sister, and it turns out they are walking the same direction. Fine. Two people, one road. Then Li Huamei learns the name of the woman he has been hunting this whole time. Empress Qin Zhao. His own senior sister. The same hands that signed the orders for every blade sent after him. He wants a reason. So does Dafeng, though he is not saying why yet. They stay together because splitting up means dying alone, and the assassins keep coming, and the fights in the jianghu are getting louder while the palace gets quieter and colder. Nobody is just passing through anymore. Somewhere in all of it sits a conspiracy too big for either of them to see the edges of, and Dafeng is holding a piece of it he has not put on the table. What does he actually know, and who was he before he walked onto that road?
