Strange things keep happening in Moominvalley, and none of them feel like accidents. A muskrat moves into the Moomin house after Moominpappa accidentally wrecks his home, and the guy won't stop muttering about a comet headed straight for the valley. Everything, he says, is about to be wiped out. So Moomin, Sniff and Mee set off for the Observatory in the Lonely Mountains to find out if the muskrat is right. The road there is long, and it does not stay quiet: Snufkin turns up, then the Hemulen, then the Snorks, and what started as a quick trip turns into something much bigger. Somewhere past all that, the professors are waiting with an answer nobody wants to hear. Is the muskrat actually right about what's coming for their valley?
