Chess Player

A monk finds a boy who can see moves nobody else can. Jiang Liuer is a Go prodigy, and the monk pushes him to learn from every school out there, not just one. So the kid starts traveling, picking up tricks from rival masters, while a twenty year national Go competition waits for him. Then comes the catch. He is not just playing strangers. Other sects want the same title, and Japanese players have crossed over to take it too, all fighting for the name Master of Chess. Every match turns into a clash of pride and old grudges, and each opponent plays a style he has never seen before. The board is small. The stakes are not.
