A wandering swordswoman named Ran drifts from town to town with a bottle of sake never far from her hand. Her katana cuts cleaner than most men's, though she would rather nap under a tree than pick a fight. Then she runs into a girl who insists on being called Lady Meow of the Iron Cat Fist, a Chinese martial artist with more confidence than sense. The two of them keep crossing paths, and somehow keep ending up in the same mess. Bandits, crooked officials, desperate strangers with nowhere else to turn: trouble finds them whether they want it or not. Ran sighs, takes one last swig, and draws her blade. Meow charges in fists first. Some days it ends in laughter, some nights it ends in silence, and a few jobs leave a bad taste that even cheap wine cannot wash out. Two women with no home and no master, walking roads that never seem to end. So what exactly is Ran running from, and why does she never stay anywhere long enough to find out?
