Four young men in a black convertible, the king's own car, heading for a wedding. Noctis is a prince, quiet and hard to read, and the three guys riding with him are his guards and his oldest friends. Gladiolus, Prompto, Ignis. They cross the continent toward Caem, where Lunafreya waits. She is an oracle, she was his childhood friend, and now she is the woman he is supposed to marry. Then the road stops being just a road. The trip keeps pulling them backward, into memories the game only ever hinted at. How the four of them met. What they were like as kids. Old fights, old promises, the small stuff that made them brothers long before any of them held a sword. A boy who lost his mother. A kid who would not talk to anyone. A fat chubby boy who just wanted a friend. You get the pieces of a friendship that was never explained, only assumed. The whole time you know something the characters do not: this calm drive is the last calm they will ever get. Whatever is waiting on the other side of that wedding is not a happy ending. So who exactly are these three men willing to die beside a prince they grew up with?
