They killed the baby-eater. Chang'an was already ash, but the thing that did it went down under their blades, and for about five minutes Jianghu and Xiao Yao Sheng probably thought the worst was behind them. It wasn't. The trail out of the ruined city leads to Spirit Beast Village, far off the map, and the road there is crowded: a demon fox girl whose beauty is the least dangerous thing about her, bone elves, and every kind of drifter, killer and merchant who lives along the rivers and lakes. Friends get made. Skills get sharpened. The two of them grow up fast. Then the ground shifts under all of it. What looked like a local mess turns out to be tied to something older, a quarrel between immortals and demons that has nothing to do with two rookies from a dead city and everything to do with them anyway. Martial arts, fantasy, blood in the snow, all of it. So who exactly dragged two wandering swordsmen into a war between heaven and hell, and why were they picked?
