The Survey Corps is back, and this time they are tiny. Stubby legs, oversized heads, the whole chibi treatment. These specials came bundled with the Blu-ray and DVD releases of the final season, and each disc hides eight short stories inside it. Eight. All of them poking fun at episodes 60 through 75 of the main show, where everything was doom and gloom and people screaming at the sky. Here is the twist: none of that heaviness survives the shrink ray. The same soldiers who spent the series staring down giants now trip over their own boots. The drama gets flattened into slapstick, and somehow that makes it funnier, not cheaper. It picks up right where the earlier chibi specials left off, so the running gags keep rolling instead of resetting. So what happens when the most serious story on television gets handed a comedy budget and a chibi art style?
