Deunan and Briareos have been through everything together: partners on the job, lovers off it. She fights with flesh and skill, he fights with a body rebuilt from metal, and the two of them are the sharpest edge Olympus has. Then a routine mission goes wrong. Briareos gets hurt, bad enough to land him in a hospital bed, and just like that the strongest couple in E.S.W.A.T. is split in half. The brass doesn't wait around. They hand Deunan a new partner: Tereus, an experimental Bioroid built to look perfect, move perfect, be perfect. That's when the bombs start going off. Someone is tearing through the city, and it isn't random, it's coordinated, aimed at the foundations of Olympus itself. Deunan has to fight a war next to a man who's a copy of everything she loves, while her real partner heals and watches from the sidelines. Tereus is polite, capable, and always there. Which is exactly what makes him so hard to trust. Can Deunan hold it together long enough to stop whoever is pulling the strings, or will the things she can't say out loud tear her team apart first?
