Tokyo Babylon
Subaru Sumeragi is the thirteenth head of his family line, an onmyouji with serious power. He takes a job to cleanse a construction site, but his client turns up dead before Subaru can even get started. The only person standing nearby is a man who keeps walking out of disasters that should have killed him. Car crashes, falling debris, freak accidents: he survives them all without a scratch. Then a young woman finds Subaru, burning with grief, and tells him this same man murdered her brother. She wants him cursed. She wants him gone. Now Subaru has to sort out how his client actually died, and the deeper he digs, the more angry spirits he stirs up. They circle the suspect like guard dogs, and they are not about to let a teenage exorcist poke around. Good thing Hokuto, his twin sister, sticks close and says exactly what she thinks, and Seishirou, his friend, is always nearby with an easy smile. But something about that smile nags at Subaru. Something about this case does not line up either. Why does a man who should be dead keep walking away, and who is really keeping him alive?
