Hell is losing. Badly. The war with Heaven has gutted the demon ranks, and with the underworld itself creaking toward collapse, there is one last gamble left: send someone up to Earth and recruit a human strong enough to turn things around. That someone is Akutsu Masatora, a demon squeezed into a school uniform, sitting through math class and pretending to be a normal teenager while he hunts for his champion. Then Lily Amane walks in. A transfer student, brilliant, impossible to ignore, exactly the kind of person he came here to find. He starts planning his pitch. There is just one problem, and it is a big one: Lily is an angel, and not a peaceful one. She is here on her own mission, cleaning demons off the face of the Earth, and Akutsu is standing right in front of her. So now the recruiter and the exterminator share a classroom, a hallway, a lunch break. Neither can drop the act. Neither can afford to lose. And somewhere between the suspicion and the close calls, something else starts growing that neither of them asked for. Can a demon win a war by falling for the enemy he was sent to destroy?
