Touko only wanted to bring back what belonged to a dead man. Haijuu took a blade for her, and now his dog Kanata walks beside her through a city that is coming apart at the seams. Spiders are pouring through the streets, and they are not just soldiers. They have powers that make walls and fire feel useless. Akira, the fire hunter who has kept her alive this far, gets pulled away on some urgent errand, and just like that Touko is alone in the smoke. Koushi is not a fighter. He is Haijuu's son, and he looks like nobody important. But his head works differently. He built a cannon that calls down lightning on the invaders, a weapon so monstrous that the gods themselves take it as an insult. Now Hibari, a deity, has decided Koushi needs to be stopped. So here is the mess: scheming gods on one side, scheming people on the other, and two kids caught between them, each trying to stay breathing. What happens when the gods pick a side in a war they started?
