Tokiyuki Houjou is done running for his life. After the disaster in Kamakura, he has his people back and one insane goal on the table: take the city again, whatever it costs. Small problem. The whole region is worn down and restless, and the men in charge would love nothing more than to drag him out of hiding and finish what they started. Even Suwa, his safest corner of the map, is no place to get comfortable. So he does what he does best. He vanishes. Mid-swing, mid-sentence, gone before anyone can blink. His retainers are loyal and sharp, but the enemies are learning his tricks, and Takauji Ashikaga is not the forgiving type. He is done chasing one boy. Something bigger and uglier is coming, while new faces drift in from the sidelines, some still undecided, others happy to profit off the mess. Old ghosts sit on Tokiyuki's shoulders. Ahead of him there is one road only: become the kid everyone wrote off, and slip fate one more time. But if his own tricks stop working, what does he have left?
