In the Shenhe Universe, whole star systems are locked in a war of civilizations. Earth gets its turn when the aliens arrive, and the only thing standing between the planet and total ruin is the Super Soldier Company: soldiers who carry super genes in their blood and fight like it. They hold the line. Then something shifts in the war, and the people they were told to trust start looking like the bigger threat. The enemy out there is bad enough. The enemy inside the ranks is worse. Super gene inheritors were built to follow orders, but orders can turn rotten, and the Company has to figure out who is still worth dying for while the shooting never really stops. Loyalty gets tested. Old alliances crack. Nobody gets to sit this one out. So when the invasion is no longer the only thing tearing Earth apart, who exactly are these soldiers supposed to be protecting?
