Summer Storm! Open for Business

A café called Ark keeps its doors open all day and all night, and the staff is a strange bunch: a cheerful owner with a head full of wild ideas, her helper Hajime, and a few other waiters who were never supposed to be here at all. Hajime is a boy standing right on the line between kid and grown-up. One of those waiters is a ghost, a young woman who died back in the war, and the two of them are linked in a way that lets them slip through time together. Then summer hits, and the usual chaos gets bigger. There's a trip to the beach, a soak in the hot springs, ghost business and time paradoxes piling up one after another. Some of the crew grow up a little. Some stay exactly as reckless as before. Hajime just wants the girl he likes to finally notice him, but she's dead and the timing has never been on his side. Meanwhile his friend, a girl his own age who dresses and talks like a boy, keeps angling for his attention and getting nowhere. So the storm rolls on, the whole gang tears through summer at full speed, and nobody slows down long enough to sort anything out. How long can a living boy keep chasing a ghost before the one standing right next to him gives up?
