Kamome comes back to Torishiro Island, the same place she wandered as a little kid, and she has one thing on her mind: treasure. Not a joke, not a figure of speech. She says it straight to Hairi, and before he can even ask what she means, she has already dragged him into the hunt. They poke around the island together, following whatever clues she remembers, and for a while it seems like a harmless game two people made up to pass the summer. Then the questions start piling up. Why did she really come back? What did she see here as a child that she never told anyone about? The closer they get to the treasure, the more it looks like the answer has been waiting for them the whole time, tied to something that happened years ago and to the two of them specifically. Hairi wants to know what he is actually helping her find. Kamome keeps smiling and keeps walking. So what is buried on that island, and what does it have to do with the girl who came looking for it twice?
