Yuuta Hoshitani gets into Ayanagi Academy chasing a memory: some student he once saw perform, someone he never even names. The school churns out musical talent, but getting in is not the same as getting into the Musical Department. That takes an audition, and at the top of the heap sits the Kao Council, third years who can make or break anyone's shot. The quickest way in is a Star Team, which means one of those council members becomes your teacher. So Hoshitani lands on Team Ootori, mentored by the council's strangest member. His teammates: Tooru Nayuki, his roommate, Kakeru Tengenji, a Kabuki kid still finding his feet, quiet Shuu Kuga, and Kaito Tsukigami, who carries a famous last name thanks to his brother Haruto. Five guys, five different problems. Stubbornness, overconfidence, shyness, and in Hoshitani's case a plain lack of skill. Other Star Teams want the same stage, and four of them are led by the rest of the Kao Council. Team Ootori has to claw out its own way to the Ayanagi Festival, one rehearsal at a time. Can five misfits who can barely stand each other become a team worth watching?
