The kitchen at Mei's house is a mess of flour and sugar, and four girls are elbow deep in cookie dough. Nagi decides Yamato is in the way, so she kicks him out. Fine by him. A text from Kai pulls him to a run down park where the two of them first started talking, back before any of this. Then Kai asks the question. Why was Yamato, the guy always surrounded by a crowd, always the first one sitting alone at the park after school? Yamato says he used to feel like a chameleon. No real personality of his own, just whatever fit whoever he was with. Kai tells him he's wrong, that he's his own person, and that this town he used to hate looks beautiful now because of him. Yamato admits something too: meeting Mei made him realize how lonely he had been. Later, at a bus stop, Kai runs into Megumi and tells her she's cool for being herself. She snaps at him and he walks off. When Momo shows up, Megumi regrets it. Momo smirks and asks if she likes him. Back at the house, the cookies turn out great, and Mei's mom pushes Mei and Yamato outside. He hugs her, says he's glad she's with him, and they walk off hand in hand into the sunset. But if Yamato was a chameleon for years, who was he really before Mei came along?
