Seiya once sealed Mars away, and that should have been the end of it. It wasn't. Somewhere on a distant planet, the god of war stirs in his prison, counting down the days until he can finish what he started. Athena, known to the world as Saori Kido, has spent years raising a boy named Kouga. She trains him, feeds him, watches him grow. He has no idea that Seiya pulled him from death when he was small, or that every punch he throws is meant for a war that is already coming. Then one day the power sleeping inside him cracks open. Cosmo. It floods through him like fire through dry grass, and nothing is quiet anymore. Saints are gathering. Mars is moving. Kouga is standing at the center of all of it whether he wants to be or not. He was never told why he was saved. He was never told what he is supposed to become. So what happens when a boy raised in the shadow of a legend finds out he is the one who has to replace him?
