The G-Reaction engines were supposed to change everything. Then they started vanishing, one by one, and nobody could say where they went. What looked like industrial sabotage turns out to be something much worse: an alien fleet of flying saucers is being assembled somewhere out there, and Earth is the target. Two teenagers, Penny Carter and Billy Kimura, are the ones who figure out what's really happening. They team up with a secret group that works outside the normal channels, because the normal channels are useless against helmet worms and their tentacles. Disintegration rays sweep the sky. Saucers dive out of the clouds. It's a lot for two kids to handle, even brilliant ones. Then help arrives from above: ace pilot James and his mentor Captain Clayton, who know how to fight in the air and aren't afraid of odds that make no sense. The kids have the brains, the pilots have the wings. Can they stop an invasion before the whole planet is wiped clean?
