Episode 2 · Onimusha

Onimusha

A wandering swordsman with the face of a screen legend cuts his way through a country that has nothing left to give. Miyamoto Musashi is modeled on Toshiro Mifune, and you can feel it in every hard stare and every shift of his shoulders before the blade comes out. The land around him is starving. Villages rot, roads empty out, and the strong take whatever they want. Then there is the sword. It is not clean work. Musashi cuts down evil where he finds it, and he finds plenty, but each swing leaves him deeper in a place where poverty is the real enemy and no one blade can fix it. So what does a man do when the thing he is best at cannot save the people who need saving?
