Monkey Punch: Manga Katsudou Daishashin

ActionAdventureComedy2004TMS EntertainmentRating 6,918+HD

A whole TV block built from the notebooks of Monkey Punch, the man behind Lupin III. Twelve episodes, each one running a full fifty two minutes on WOWOW, from the summer of 2004 into the summer of 2005. Sketches, gags, parodies, action, a bit of skin, whatever the segment felt like doing that week. An anthology that never sits still. Then, once the broadcast was over, something extra showed up. A fifteen minute special called Crime Mate, made only for the DVD, never aired on television. So the show kept going after it had already ended. The weird part is how much of Monkey Punch's own material he never got around to animating, and how freely this thing jumps between his worlds. A joke can turn into a chase in one cut. A chase can turn into a punchline in the next. Nobody explains the rules because there are none. And with twelve episodes plus a special that most people never saw, how much of this did you actually manage to catch?
