Nobody knows the Mirage Queen's real name, age, or even whether they're a man or a woman. What is known: they sail the skies in an airship, hunting down treasures across the world, and they pull off heists with a style that borders on art. A code of honor, a taste for the dramatic, and a small crew of loyal accomplices who would never sell them out. When word spreads that the Queen has set their sights on the Rose of Linden, a jewel of legend, the whole world waits to see the inevitable. Then the jewel vanishes before the Queen can get to it. A traveling circus beats them to the punch, and not just any circus: a troupe of hypnotists, magicians, acrobats, and performers whose skills go way past entertainment. Stealing from the Queen of Thieves? That takes nerve. Or a very good plan. What follows is a duel of tricks and double crosses, the elusive many-faced Queen on one side and the circus crew on the other, each one trying to outsmart the other at every turn.
