Yuu's parents sit him down and say it plainly: they are getting divorced. Not because anything went wrong. They swap partners with another couple and remarry, all six of them under one roof, ready made family. Yuu takes the news the way anyone would. He walks out the door. Somewhere in town he stops dead. A girl is practicing tennis, swinging at ball after ball, and he cannot look away. He follows her through the streets, keeping his distance, falling harder with every block. Then he learns her name. Miki Koishikawa. The daughter of the other couple. The sister he never asked for. She has no idea who he is, and now every meal, every hallway, every ordinary morning puts her right there in front of him. How do you sit across the table from a girl you fell for before you knew her name and pretend she is just family?
