Aimi and Nami have a system. They sit together at lunch, they trade notes after class, and they talk about Ken Kirio, the boy who sits three rows over and has no idea any of this is happening. Every sigh he lets out gets taken apart and examined. Every glance in their direction becomes an event. He is not a hero, not a genius, not even especially interesting, but to these two he is the whole show. Their friendship runs on it, and honestly, they like things the way they are. Then other classmates start joining in. Suddenly the private club isn't private, and the two founders are no longer the only ones keeping score. Aimi goes straight at whatever she wants, loud and impulsive. Nami plans, waits, and calculates. Both of them want to be the one who gets there first, and neither will admit that the competition matters more to them than the boy does. Every scheme they cook up somehow carries them further from an actual conversation with Kirio and closer to each other. They know it too. Somewhere in the middle of all the plotting, both girls understand that this winding road is not leading anywhere near a real relationship. So what happens when the game itself becomes the point, and one of them finally decides to stop playing?
