A year has passed since the bloodbath against Zhao. Xin now commands three hundred men of his own, the Fei Xin Unit, and he wants more. Not for glory exactly. For the faces he can no longer see. Every battle he survives is one he owes to the dead. Then Qin turns its eyes on Wei. A small state, but it sits right in the path of King Ying Zheng's dream of swallowing all six kingdoms whole. Xin rides into the early skirmishes expecting to prove himself, and instead runs straight into young commanders born into families with names that open doors. They look at him like he's dirt. He looks back like he's already won. Meanwhile, back in the palace, knives are coming out. Factions that never accepted Ying Zheng are moving against him, quietly, while he's busy fighting a war far from home. The king who clawed his way back onto the throne is still surrounded by men who'd sell him out for the right price. Xin and Ying Zheng are chasing the same impossible future from opposite ends of the battlefield.
